Discover the Taste of Ethiopia: Sidamo Coffee Beans
Sidamo coffee beans are for serious coffee lovers. Sidamo grows in the highland forests of southern Ethiopia — the birthplace of coffee itself — and is one of the world’s most celebrated single-origin beans. Once you taste Sidamo you’ll understand why. This isn’t just coffee, it’s a connection to a centuries-old tradition of coffee drinking.

A Flavour Profile Unlike Any Other
Sidamo coffee shows naturally bright acidity and complex, layered taste. The coffee “experts” says expect notes of juicy citrus, ripe berries, and floral jasmine, underpinned by a smooth, wine-like body. We enjoyed its sweetness and natural richness. There’s no need for any sugar with this coffee, the lovely, syrupy taste comes entirely from the bean itself. In a distinct contrast to our other Ethiopian coffee Yirgacheffe we tend to roast Sidamo a little darker, to accentuate its flavours.
However you brew this coffee, the result is a cup that feels alive; vibrant, nuanced, and deeply satisfying every single time you drink it.

Grown with Care, from Soil to Cup
Sidamo beans grow at elevations between 1,500 and 2,200 masl in the mountains of south-central Ethiopia. The cool temperatures and rich volcanic soil create the ideal conditions for slow coffee cherry development. This unhurried growth allows a coffee of depth and complexity to mature. Many farms in the region follow generations-old cultivation practices, with beans hand-picked at peak ripeness and sun-dried on raised beds for optimal flavour. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is wasted. Every step in the process is guided by a respect for the land and a pride in the product.
Carefully Sourced, Sustainably Grown
Choosing Sidamo means more than choosing great coffee — it means supporting the smallholder farming communities who have cultivated the Ethiopian highlands for centuries. The majority of Ethiopian coffee is grown as garden coffee. This means that farmers plant it close to their houses, often intercropped with other plants. It’s also common for families to grow coffee in a forest system, in which coffee seedlings are planted among the trees and bushes. Shade-grown cultivation methods protect the surrounding forest eco-system, preserving biodiversity and ensuring these extraordinary beans can be enjoyed for generations to come. When you buy Sidamo, you’re part of something much bigger than your morning cup!
