One of our best-selling blends, Big Deal Coffee blend is a union of delicious complementary coffee flavours from Central America. The result is a very smooth coffee. So it is easy to drink at any time of day.
We, the Real Deal Roasters, are experienced coffee roasters who produce high-quality coffees. Our roastery is in the beautiful seaside town of Deal, East Kent, England. We love roasting, brewing and drinking our delicious coffees, and sharing that pleasure with you.
We wanted to make a blend that reflected our home town. Finally, after much experimenting, we came up with the Big Deal blend. Its smooth taste and big mouthfeel seemed to match the “big skies and empty beaches” feel of Deal. This new coffee blend is available now.
This Big Deal coffee blend combines two different Arabica coffee beans from Guatemala and Costa Rica. Guatemala offers some of the finest coffees in Central America, through its lush, nutritious soil which is perfect for coffee growing. Whereas we appreciate the coffees of Costa Rica for their full bodies and sweet taste. For this Big Deal blend we took some medium roasted Guatemalan Coban beans and mixed them 50/50 with Costa Rican beans. As a result we scored a hugely satisfying cup.
Big Deal is a well balanced, big bodied coffee blend with bright acidity and a smooth aftertaste. It seems like, in coffee descriptions, many words can mean something else. Real Deal Roasters always aim simply to deliver good quality, great value, freshly roasted coffee. We try to avoid the pretentiousness (and the high prices) sometimes associated with speciality coffee. But some industry words do creep in, especially when describing coffees. Here “acidity” just means that dry, bright, perhaps sparkling sensation that a really high-quality coffee has. It never means anything that will hurt your tummy!

Coffee Blending

Coffee blending is the art of marrying coffee beans from different origins to try to enhance the best qualities of each. We try to select coffee beans that will complement each other. Then we pair them in the right proportions to highlight the best of each bean. Creating blends is a hugely enjoyable part of the coffee business, and it’s also something that you can try at home. Just take two or three of our single origin coffees and experiment with mixing them in different proportions until you find a blend you like. It’s a little tricky but you don’t have to be an expert to create your own signature blends. You just need a sense of adventure and of course a love of coffee.
As it’s best to create blends from the single origin beans, so for this reason our Big Deal is not available in green beans. However its components, Guatemalan Coban beans and Costa Rican beans, are available if you’d like to try home roasting.
